H28年6月は、通常年ではフェアウェイ（ノシバやコウライシバなどの暖地型芝）にバーチカル（注※1）更新作業を行い、目砂を施している時期です。
しかし今年は天候不順（温度や日照時間が不足）であり、ノシバやコウライ（暖地型）の春芽出が今ひとつでありました。
その為、今年に限ってフェアウェイへのバーチカルはかけずに様子をみました。一方レノベーターに（注※2）よるコアリングはフェアウェイ、ラフとも実施して、コアを使用して目土代わりで乾燥コアをすり込みしていますが、今年はこの作業を通常年と同じく実施しました。
ところでフェアウェイへの目砂散布は、予算に限界があるので隔年で2mm程度を実施しています。（もっと多いのが理想ですが。）
また芝の種類は、フェアウェイがコウライ、ラフがノシバを使用していますが、管理上もっとも気にしている事は葉の数、つまりは葉の密度を上げ、裸地化を防ぐとともに、雑草がゴルフ場に繁茂することを防ぐことです。
結果的に、ゴルフ場は管理が行き届いている云々という評価につながりやすいと思います。
当コースは富士山の裾野に位置し、薄い地表の下は溶岩で出来上がっていますが、フェアウェイ、ラフとも更新作業は大きな岩との闘いですし、作業中に刃が欠けたり折れたりしました。
しかしこの更新作業の結果、暗渠排水（表面排水も含む）と同様な効果も上がり、排水不良個所の改善につながりました。
