I've had some problems trying to sync video+audio.

I have 2 videos of the same thing, from different sources. Their lenght is very different.

The thing is that I liked the video of the 1st, and the audio of the 2nd

I opened the 1st video and load the audio from the 2nd as external audio (the second is not audio only, it is a full video). This is what happened:

1) Suddenly a second video window appeared on the screen. I was seeing both, the first video and the second at the same time, but the second window was different. Not from mpc-be.

2) I closed the second window and everything looked ok. I was watching the 1st video+2nd audio. So I started tweaking the delay (about 5 min).

3) Suddenly the video started going fast, no audio and mpc was totally irresponsive (still playing fast video) until I killed it.

4) After that, tried playing ONLY the first video again, and mpc-be gave me an error, and then I got both videos playing together. his time on the very same mpc-be window. Very weird. I fixed it, by renaming the second video and restarting mpc-be.

I know this is a "extreme" example, but I'd like to know how to sync video+audio with several minutes delay. Is it possible? or I have to find an external editing program to do it?

OK, 2 questions for you guys:

1)Is there any place I can check the revision changes in english? When I download the builds, all I can see is the info in russian, but I can't find it in english. Is there any?

2) This one is about youtube videos. I've been having a small issue with these videos since the beginning. I waited to see if it was fixed, but it's the same, so I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this.

What happens to me is that I can see some artifacts when starting a new video. At first, you could think it is a buffering problem, but I can see the buffering bar going far ahead of the playing bar and still have this artifacts on the video. I can fix the video by simply rewinding the video a few seconds and, like magic, the image is fixed, but pausing the video and waiting for it to buffer more doesn't fix it. Weird, right?

edit: I forget to mention another thing that happens sometimes. The video starts buffering and playing and suddenly de video stops (both video and sound), but playing and buffering bars keep moving like nothing's happened. Sometimes it fixes itself after a couple of seconds (with a bit of choppy video) and sometimes not.

As I said, both are similar to a buffering problem, but from what I can see the buffer is well right ahead and it shouldn't be a problem, so it could be that or the buffering indicator showing something wrong.

Anyone else?

If I load a playlist, mpc-be loads always the 1st movie on the list (at least, to me).

What I'd like is the possibility of continuing playing on the same movie I was when I stopped, when I reload a playlist.

I've seen an option to "Remember last playlist", but it's not that.

Is it possible to do this now? how?

It would be very nice to load a 50 chapter playlist and avoid looking for the last chapter you were watching (especially if your memory is as bad as mine).

I just tested this with the r build linked above, and it seems to be working just fine with WMP12 on Win7 + LAV Video. The setting requires you to re-open the video for it to be used though, maybe you forgot to do this?

OK, another option that I often miss is the following:

Could it be possible to add another Video Frame Size? A fixed size, height and width?

There's a lot of video sizes right now to choose from, but many times they are too big or too small.

As an example, sometimes I watch low quality videos, that are too blocky to look nice on full screen, but if I put original size, they are too small, and double size, they are almost full screen for me. There's nothing in between and I get forced to zoom in and out to find the right size.

What I'd like is to be able to do things like this:

width=px or
height=px or
width=px and height=px

If not, what about size? :)

Don't know what to say, since it's working with both LAV and the MPC-BE Video Decoder on my system. Are you sure that VSFilter is even being used?

I've had problems with a video with sound effects on L and voice on R. Sound effects were too loud, so I kindda fixed it balancing to the R.

I found it weird to listen to, so I decided to mix it to mono, but when I did, the sounds on L were again louder than the voice on R, and I couldn't stand it.

It would be nice to have individual volumes for each audio input channel (at least L-R), and be able to mix them with the new volumes, like I said before, to equalize between sound effects and voice for example.

This is the first time I have to do something with audio and neither mpc-be nor mpc-hc can do this. afaik.

Looks correct to me: it always renders one line above the bottom, and in this case the bottom is small enough that it still renders in the film. If you had the option turned off, it would render much higher up the frame. Turn on "override placement" with a V of near-zero to force it into the black border.

The green is obviously a bug, though.

Not sure if this will ever make it in, but in the meantime, you can use ffdshow's raw audio input and mixer to customize the volume of each channel.

That's what I needed. I don't have any experience with filters at all, basically because until now I didn't need anything more than load a movie and press play/pause/stophehehe.

I've played with ffdshow for a couple of minutes and it seems to be doing the trick just fine. :)

I've noticed that when you change brightness/contrast/etc (with the sliders, inside the menu) while the video is paused nothing happens, I have to play the video again to see the changes.

I've also noticed that I can change shaders while paused and see the effects.

Is there any reason for the different behaviour? Can it be changed?

A couple of weeks ago, I played this youtube video:

and I added it to mpc-be Favorites.

Everything worked OK, and I played that video through favorites many times. I installed the new mpc-be version and when I tried to play it again, it didn't work.

I get "Cannot render the file" or "Failed to render the file" everytime.

I tried the video in firefox and it's working, and I'm trying the "Open file/URL" and I get the same message. I've even deleted the link from Favorites, just in case.

Other youtube videos are working so I don't really know what's going on.

anybody else experiencing something similar?

btw. organize favorites has no option for:

editing path/url
copy link to clipboard

and I really miss these options, although the 1st one would be enough.

When you download subtitle press CTRL + S to save subtitle. It will get the same name as movie. You will also get one more file, style which can save custom settings for that subtitle, like font settings, position ect.

As you can see, the cuesheet parser wrongfully assumes track to have the same performer as track 2.

But if I might make a suggestion I'd much prefer the following instead:

- The "Navigate - Jump To"-menu only shows the track-title.
- The Information-bar shows the album-performer, unless a different track-performer is specified.
- An extra line is added to see the track-title currently being played.

Much better and more efficient if you ask me.

I found today that there's something similar already, but not exactly what I needed.

and then we have 2 options: Position and Zoom

Can anyone explain to me the Performance options? I can't find anything useful about that.

I'm on a 1ghz laptop with an OK gpu, and I'd like to understand how to tweak those options (packets, size and cache).

I've read somewhere that low-end machines should have small queues and high-end, high queues. But I can't find more info.

This would be of great help for some audio sync issue I'm encountering with my HTPC (and I hope for somebody else too), while I think it's not requiring that much effort for implementation. At the moment, mpc-be shows the time, but it would be great to also show a still image to know where you are. Many times, I have to click on the timeline a few times to find the point where I want to go, because I don't have any visual clue.

'Audio Time Shift' is adjusted if necessary once, and does not change. Option can be set from the settings window. I see no reason for her to do keyboard shortcuts.
This option for the correction of hardware delays, not to fix broken files.

@v0lt: But this is not due to broken files. It is because when you are using a HTPC equipment, connected via HDMI to TV and via SPDIF/TosLink to external receiver, there sometimes happens that the A/V sync is not ok (file is ok, because on PC the sync is correct). I assume this is due to different framrate of the video files (I'm having both and ), or maybe under some other circumstances. The point is, I can only put one specific audio delay in MPC, it's the one I measured to be ms. But this is only valid for the video files which do have A/V sync problem. So if I have it enabled, and I play files which are without sync problem, the sound is playing too early, and I must manually navigate through menu in MPC and disable this option, or I have to 12 times press a hotkey to increase the value to 0, which - sorry to be honest - sucks :) With this hotkey which would alter this option On/Off it will be very easy, as it's only one key press which can be also assigned to a Remote Control or something. Is it really that much effort to implement it? I would do it on my own, but don't have the time to study the code.

I can't find an option to update automatically.

Is it possible to add this option?

I tend to use only mpc-be for everything now and one thing I do is go to sleep while listening to something (sometimes only audio) and mpc-be keeps the screen on all the time.

I know other players have the option to allow or not the screensaver (or turn off the screen), but I can't find it here.

i have found the reason. in the format section option, MPEG-4 audio was set to quicktime. i don't have quicktime installed. i don't know how this was set as quicktime. also there was no problem with recent versions. thanks for all help.

all i have done was changing quicktime to directshow. and this fixed the crashing.

now i have changed it back to quicktime and program is not crashing anymore.

2) It takes 6 seconds to open any video! (I have the latest GPU drivers).
3) How to disable the cover art that loads with every audio file has it?
4) Is it possible to play next file in a playlist according to "size" or "time added" instead of just "alphabetically"?

I'm able to use svn along with SVP and madVR, use the seek bar, and not have any problems.

I recommend you make a note of your settings. Uninstall MPC-BE, uninstall SVP, and any filters/codecs you having installed (to try to rule out file corruption/conflicts). Then download KCP black (bilin.com.mx?KCP-Kawaii-Codec-Pack&p=&viewfull=1#post), install it (it will install and configure MPC-BE, madVR, and LAV for you), install SVP (only the SVP program - none of the extras just SVP, ffdshow, and avisynth), add ffdshow raw video filter to external filters in MPC-BE under the others and set to prefer), try one of the KCP preset configurations first (with no configuration changes) see if it crashes to determine if settings may be at fault), change to your settings (see if it crashes to confirm if settings are an issue).

Looks like a long process for troubleshooting! I think it's related to user's settings since I knew that 2 guys were having the same issue while using a setup like mine!
I guess I'll try another suggestions since it'll take me some time until I revert back everything as it is now, sorry for not trying your recommendation though!

My Smooth Motion is set to OFF since it delays rendering time & I use a better one (SVP)!

I know I can do it with VLC, but I don't know if I can do the same here.

What I'd like is:

watch a video stream and, at the same time it's buffering, save it locally, to watch it again later.

Basically, assign a local filename to the video buffer.

I noticed that mpc-be doesn't load the playlist at all if the option "playlist" is OFF in the menu.

I think that urls like:

should be loaded whether or not that option is ON or OFF.

I think something like this makes more sense:

always load a playlist url and execute it as any other playlist

example: bilin.com.mx?list=PLF8ED6C34ED65

leave the actual option "load playlist" only for individual videos in the playlist, to allow for single item play or loading the whole playlist and playing the selected item first.

example: bilin.com.mx?v=NQCvKe98EZc&list=PLF8ED6C34ED65&index=6

When I download the ts-segments and playlists from KN_m3u8 to my harddrive, the 'manifest-playlist' is succesfully parsed. So I don't know why the online version isn't parsed.
When I download the ts-segments and playlists from sbs6_leermijvrouwenkennen_SE01_hls-main.m3u8 in their appropriate folders (r1,r2,r3,r4,r8), the 'manifest-playlist' is succesfully parsed, but MPC-BE only plays the first ts-segment and then moves on to the next playlist. So I guess the directory-structure might have something to do with it.
But since you can't access these files well, thanks anyway.

I have problems forward skipping this video (and all others from the same guy):

Everytime I skip forward, audio plays inmediately but it takes 2+ seconds for the video to refresh. Sometimes, not always, it even takes seconds.

Video plays well, if I don't skip.

As I said before, I'm on a 1 ghz cpu but, at the moment, these are the only files that I have problems with. I don't know if it's my hardware, the video file or mpc-be.

1 - Encode to AC-3 - made to encode any audio in AC-3 for SPDIF Out to any external device. Stereo sound is also able to pass SPDIF Out, so it is not necessary to encode.
2 - i don't see this options.

Let me make things clear. As ryrynz mentioned 2 posts above, that's what I need. As of now, if I enable Encode to AC-3, MPC-BE will encode any 2 channel sources to AC-3 ("Pass-through" SPDIF is enable for AC-3, DTS etc. for those respective formats). I would like MPC-BE to add an option to pass through 2 channel sources as is, without encoding to AC

The reason is that, my old receiver can't process multi channel AAC audio, so I use MPC-BE to encode multi channel AAC to AC Two channel sources not need to encode to AC-3 (Dolby digital ). This way, we can preserve the original 2 channel sound (untouched).

In the Sound processing -> Mix channels to, add an option to skip mixing of 2 channel sound sources. This way, only multi channel audio is mixed in to stereo and 2 channel sound is played untouched. The reason is that when I play videos on my laptop I like to mix multi channel audio in to 2 channel stereo (I use headphones). So that, original 2 channel audio don't have to be remixed.

I tried today to select some different shaders, and my list is empty. The shader folder seems ok.

I haven't touched anything for weeks, so I don't know when this happened.

Is it only me without a drop-down list of shaders? (using xz)

With this option checked, the aspect ratio of subtitle is locked at a wrong one(condensed vertically), even at full screen. Without checking this, at least ratio is correct under full screen.
BTW, I think this option is for the position of the subtitle rather than the AR of subtitles which shouldn't be changed in most scenarios.

So, if unchecked, not only the position but also the aspect ratio of the subtitle is relevant to the windows aspect ratio. Is it intended? Shouldn't only the position be relative to the windows AR, but not the AR of subtitles?

Is it possible to add a "vibrance" shader into the default shaders that come with mpc-be?

I tried using vibrance from my ATI drivers, and it turns out it doesn't work well on my hardware (video gets choppy), but I've tried shaders and they work well.

Could you add vibrance to the pack, please?

Is it possible, in any way, to display 2 different subtitles at once?

I use TV & movies to learn languages, and I use subtitles a lot, but I wonder if I could have 2 different languages on screen at once. Something like french at the bottom and english at the top.

Any ideas how this could be done?

An alternative could be ok,too. I thought of having 2 different players, simultaneously, but I can't keep sync of both when I want to rewind or go forward, and I do that a lot.

edit: I've just realised that I could open one of the languages in notepad and display it, side by side, with mpc. That could work. :)

Yes you can show two subtitles at once.
One subtitle through ffdshow and one through MPC-BE subtitle renderer or vsfilter.

When player detects 3D flag from MKV or .3DSBS. or other into filename, it uses framepacking to auto switch TV to 3D.

I can't change subtitle styles to a movie.

Subtitles are in .sup format (17mb!!!), and I wanted to change size and color, but I can't.
I tried everything I could think of, but nothing changes.

Any ideas?

.sup is one of image subtitles which are impossible to be resized.

Download a srt subtitle (text format) or convert the sup to srt. I've converted in the past, but found other obsessive people had already done a good job of it.

OK, I've noticed the following in a few movies, and I think it's time to ask about it:

Sometimes, a movie starts OK, but after a while (30min or whatever, for example, on soccer games I notice the second half is worse than the first) it starts getting choppier. The first few times I thought it was because it was online sports recorded, so there was a chance that there was a lag problem.

But the other thing that I can't understand is that even mpc-be interface gets a bit more lag as well. For example, when I move the mouse so I can see the time bar. If I click on the first minutes of the movie, mpc-be responds fast as usual, but if I click to the end of the movie, when I want to see the time bar,it gets slow and sometimes I can see a glitch where the bar should be, so there's something wrong, whatever it is (I don't know if it's a memory problem or what, but everything else seems ok).

To make myself clear:

1) I start movie -> everything ok.
2) I click somewhere 2/3 of the movie -> lag on movie and mpc-be interface
3) I click at the beggining of the movie again -> everything ok again

Anybody else experienced something similar?

Of course, there's the possibility that on a faster computer, you don't notice anything, but I don't think it's normal that there's a difference between the beggining and the end of a movie.

BTW I have 2GB ram, and there's plenty unused, but it might be something with big files (GB), or long movies ( hours+). I'm not sure about this, anyway.

Does it take more CPU or memory to process the end of big file movies than the beggining?

There is also another small issue I can point out.

I have my playlist detached from the MPC-BE player and I have a dual monitor setup. When the playlist window is on the non-primary monitor (secondary), it does not automatically play the next video on the playlist after one file finishes playing. It will be paused at the beginning of the next video, and you must click play. However, this is not an issue with Youtube links, only with local files this occurs. When the playlist window is located on the primary window, it automatically plays the next video like it should on the player. Even when the player is on the secondary.

I avoid this issue by simply having the playlist on the primary monitor, and having the player fullscreened on my secondary. The monitors were arranged according to this issue.

This is also an MPC-HC issue, and nobody has noticed this as far as I know. Let me know if this is replicated!

I am having focus problems when using MPC-BE as an external player with Kodi Entertainment Center. When a video is launched, I lose the ability to control it with a mouse or remote. The controls default to the panel underneath, Kodi, and all control over MPC-BE is lost.

MPC-HC does not exhibit this behavior. When I launch a file, even when MPC-HC is launched over the Kodi interface, I still retain focus and remote control of MPC-HC until playback is stopped.

Is there any hope of correcting this behavior or am I doomed to use the inferior MPC-HC?

Thanks Aleksoid, but, believe it or not, that still didn't fix it. I tried each option individually and I still can't maintain focus on the player.

I have a laptop with an Intel HD and Kodi Entertainment Center and it does not exhibit this behavior. But my HTPC with a Nvidia GTS does.

It's not the end of the world; MPC-HC was working fine, but I thought there was a chance for an incremental upgrade. I might try updating my driver software as a last resort.

I've got a question about the "Go to" option.

I have a series of movies that all have 45 seconds of titles at the beginning, so I thought of using this option to skip to everytime.

The thing is that it doesn't remember that number and instead everytime I do Ctrl+G it's set to the current time in the movie.

Is this the desired behaviour? Or could it be changed to remember that last time entered?

Also it could be useful to add an option to auto skip x seconds at the beginning of every movie. :)

First of all, thanks a lot for your excellent work. I love MPC-BE!

I have one small feature request. At the moment, it's only possible to enable or disable the OSD.

The only thing that I would like to be able to disable is the name of the file displayed when we launch a movie, as I find this distracting, especially when we play say an intro, then a trailer then the movie with MyMovies.
Otherwise I find it really useful to be able to display some OSD info like time remaining etc.

Could we either have an option to disable this (and only this) OSD message, or alternatively a way to enable/disable OSD with a keyboard shortcut, so we could disable OSD by default but enable it if we need, for example, to display total/remaining time during movie playback?

I know it's a very small thing, but that's the only thing that annoys me now that MyMovies supports MPC-BE directly and beautifully.

I think there is something that I did not catch up with. Currently I can only make MPC-BE work with XySubFilter xxx. With the recent MPC-BE beta versions, XySubFilter is not shown on the active filter list.

Is there any necessary change in the settings to make it work?

ps: The subtitle files are external .ass format. Other preferred filters are LavFilter/Video/Audio Video renderer is madVR

Now I have figured out why XySubFilter is not loaded with the new MPC-BE version. With the recent new MPC-BE versions, XySubFilter's "Loading" -> "Load when needed" option does not work any more.

XySubFilter's "Loading" -> "Load when needed" working only if file have embedded subtitles, it's option never work for only external.

Meanwhile, another a issue:

I still use build of Potplayer. Because last versions of potplayer is incompatible with bilin.com.mx (versions doesn't matter). How? If a few times press to END key (jump the line of subtitle), Potplayer is suddenly crashing. But this problem not occured in Cyberlink video decoder. I reported the issue to ahahlive (Potplayer's developer). Responded: "I cannot represent at all". :)

I do some checks - PotPlayer drop frames only with VMR9(r) + VMR Mixing. Drop frames also with LAVVideo. But what interesting - on you HEVC sample internal PotPlayer video decoder show black screen :)

P.S. I do additional check - work fine with LAVSource or MPC Matroska Source. So - bug in Pot's Matroska source, it's set incorrect timestamp.

How? Help me your refer. I changed MKV source filter to MPC from internal. To be honest, until now nothing could be further
from my mind. :)
As result, this also issue fixed. I will report to pot's developer.

i manage to play video with wine somehow but i can't debug to know why i cant use madvr :confused:

madvr is only 32bit, maybe you're using the 64bit version of mpcbe?

why is the EVR playing this Clip so choppy and "slow" if in Direct3D-mode @fps; only if I go to 48fps it is okam I missing some settings in the Decoder or elsewhere, or is the file defective?

in the Mpeg-DVD-Decoder I have set the deinterlace to "Weave"so, I thought that should do the trick to bring the two fields back to xp23Hz?

Something's wrong here.

the file work as it should be.
the pal 25i file was slowdown to 23i (/) which is not an official spec of DVD, BD or any me known broadcast.

because the file is still interlaced it is deinterlaced from EVR CP using DXVA deinterlacing to 47p (/). the weave option doesn't over write this.

I guess powerDVD isn't deinterlacing after seeing the refreshrate like madVR.

I have a to analog output question.
Since I got 7 speakers, when a movie only has audio, only the rears work. Is there no option or plugin that upmixes to in MPC or lav filters etc? I have tried some stuff but nothing works.

yes, the file was slowed down (by eac3to)that is done by many people for some time who want to view movies in original speed
ok, Bluray is becoming more and more popular; but for TV series DVD is still an option, if you do not have unlimited HDD Volumen; thats why eac3to provides this option to slow down but this does not make any sense if the slowdown works only for audio and no for Video
