Details
ESET Cyber Security and ESET Cyber Security Pro are updated at least once a day with new virus definitions and occasional program component upgrades. These updates will fail if your Username or Password is invalid or entered incorrectly.
Solution
If you received an error after your product displayed a "Free Upgrade Available" notification, see our Knowledgebase article. If your license has expired, renew it here to upgrade. After you upgrade your product, you must type in your ESET-issued License Key in section III to complete activation and restore protection. When prompted, save the file to your Desktop. Click Start → All Programs → ESET → Uninstall. After completing the uninstallation, restart your computer. Navigate to the saved installation file on your Desktop from section I, step 2. Double-click the file to open ESET Live Installer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install and activate your ESET product. After installing ESET Cyber Security and ESET Cyber Security Pro, you will automatically be prompted to enter your License Key to activate your product. If you skipped this step, or your product is still not activated, follow the steps below:
- Open ESET Cyber Security and ESET Cyber Security Pro. If your product is not activated, it will say Product is not activated in red:
- Click Help → Manage License.
- Type, or copy/paste, your ESET-issued License Key into the License Key field and then click Activate. Click here if you lost your License Key.
- Click Done.
Version 5.x and earlier (Username and Password)
- Locate your ESET-issued Username and Password, which you should have received by email after purchase or first activation of your product. If you cannot locate your Username and Password, visit the Lost License page to have them resent.
- Open ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro. How do I open my ESET product?
- Press COMMAND + U to open the Username and Password setup window.

Usernames and Passwords
Remember to enter your Username and Password exactly as they are written:
- The username and password are case sensitive
- The hyphen in the username is necessary
- The password is ten characters long and all lowercase
- If you are copying and pasting, make sure you don't select an extra blank space
- We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead)
- A big '0' is the number zero (0); a little 'o' is the lowercase letter o

Troubleshooting activation errors
ESET products will display a number of ACT error codes (for example ACT.0, ACT.5, ACT.7, or ACT, view full list of ACT errors) if activation fails. To resolve these issues follow the steps below:
Remove any previously installed antivirus software using the vendor's approved method. Get tools to remove third-party AV here.
Verify that your internet connection is active by visiting the ESET home page. You must have an active internet connection before you can download updates.
Click Start
and type .
Right-click the Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator.
Type the command netsh winsock reset and press the Enter key on your keyboard. Restart your computer and attempt to activate it.
Errors can occur when the system time on your machine is set incorrectly. Set your system clock properly to resolve the error.
Navigate to and verify if the hosts file contains any DNS poisoned entries related to the bilin.com.mx domain.
If any DNS poisoned entries are found, remove these entries from the hosts file using a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++. This action requires Windows administration privileges.

How to activate ESET Endpoint Security
After installation is complete, you will be prompted to activate your product.
There are several methods for activating your product. Availability of a particular activation scenario in the activation window may vary depending on the country, and the means of distribution (ESET web page, installer type .msi or .exe, etc.).
To activate your copy of ESET Endpoint Security directly from the program, open the ESET Endpoint Security main program window and in the main menu, click Help and support > Activate product or Protection status > Activate product.
You can use any of the following methods to activate ESET Endpoint Security:
